PEACE VILLAGE

Peace Village is an inter-faith, multi-racial, multi-cultural day camp held the third week of July each summer to teach the way of non-violence to children ages 8 through 13.

Peace Village was created by a UCC congregation in 1996; Boise Peace Village has been active in the Boise Community since 1998.  Core curriculum consists of Meditation/Yoga, Non-Violent Conflict Resolution (NVC), Media Literacy, and Ecology.  Students sing, make instruments, chant, Dance for Universal Peace, hike, swim, garden and create art.  They also learn about the lives of peace heroes, such as:  Jesus of Nazareth, Gandhi, Martin Luther King, Jr., Cé Sar Chá Vez,Dali Lama, Rigo Berta Menchú, Mother Teresa, and Peace Pilgrim and explore the concept of Peace Marches. They also hear from religious leaders from a variety of traditions:  Buddhist, Christian, Hindu, Jewish, Muslim and Native American.

This camp is designed to expose our children to a variety of experiences that will possibly become tools for them as they grow and mature.
